In exploring ways to utilize Substack, I feel a calling being handed over me to use this platform to also help advocate for victims and survivors in real time. So, I will be periodically (or maybe even often), be posting articles of breaking stories and events within the survivor community. I’m officially putting on my independent, investigative reporter hat!

Now, lets get to it - shall we?

A couple years ago, a survivor from the UK named Kevin Sutherland put a call to action up on social media wanting to be interviewed in order that his story of abuse be on record. It’s a monumental step for a survivor to speak out publicly and kill the silence that acts as a layer of protection to their abusers. I immediately reached out to Kevin as an advocate with a podcast willing to help elevate his voice and story - and soon after, we recorded a 2-part podcast series chronologically detailing the abuses he’s endured from childhood to present day (CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE TO MY PODCAST).

To summarize Kevin’s podcast episode testimony (although I highly encourage you all to actually watch with eyes to see and ears to hear); his abuse began in the home, followed him into the foster / child care system, continued throughout his formative (boarding) school years, and after he finally had the courage to run away at the tender age of 15 - he endured more abuse at the hands of many more abusers during his brief stint as a escort - including GB UK news star and TV personality, Dan Wootton.

Well, that it’s been 2 years since we’ve recorded Kevin’s testimony, and would you believe it? Right now (today!) in the UK, a massive sex abuse scandal where survivors and victims of Dan Wootton are speaking out is making mainstream headlines, and Kevin’s voice is finally being heard. #DanWootton is officially ‘trending’. What a joyous time for Kevin and for survivors of this vile abuser!

For the sake of this article, I will be covering only the topic of Dan Wootton specifically and I’m going to link the podcast episodes we did below. If you live in the UK, you won’t have access to Part 2 of his interview on YouTube, so I will also link where you can find it on Rumble.

Take the time to listen, will you? Especially before forming an opinion based off what you hear in the fake news media networks. Kevin’s story happens to cross many layers and themes that are very prevalent and synonymous with other survivors I’ve featured on my podcast: Abuse early in childhood, boarding school abuse, domestic abuse, pedophilia, CSA (childhood sexual abuse), rape, exploitation, and sexual abuse perpetuated from individuals in society who hold positions of power.

This past week, Kevin took to Twitter (FOLLOW KEVIN ON TWITTER HERE) to whistleblow in a series of tweets after a series of sexual abuse allegations began to break headlines in the UK about Dan Wootton. Kevin’s post(s) soon went viral (*insert standing ovation here):

Kevin’s tweets were picked up by the YouTube channel, ‘Popcorned Planet’, and they did an excellent job reviewing evidence from both sides and picking apart this scandal. I would love if you all took some time to watch and share this broadcast (and go hype Kevin up in the comments!). Now, of COURSE, NO whistleblower or survivor exposes the enemy without retaliation. If you follow my podcast (CLICK FOR ALL LINKS TO MY PODCAST), you already know the playbook and the drill involves blackmail and scare tactics to make the victim or survivor retreat back into silence and isolation. What Dan and others didn’t anticipate was that Kevin would beat them to the punch and publicly air out all his own dirty laundry (an ‘8-Mile’ moment to be exact!).

Kevin is also refreshingly honest, vulnerable, and frank in the interviews we did together which weave together the big picture of how an abused child can quickly become an abused adult without a safety net of healthy, loving, and protective adults surrounding them. We should all be livid at the smear campaign against Kevin. For starters, it’s unoriginal. You’d think after all the same scare tactics have been deployed over and over again for decades that there would eventually be some originality to throw off those of us who know and understand the game. But even more than that, we should be livid that a predator like Dan Wootton took advantage of someone who he KNEW was vulnerable. Someone he thought he could pick on and who he thought never stood a chance at redemption. Something only cowards do.

"Hey Dan! Why don’t you go pick on someone your own size!”

I write this with a call to action that you please go lift Kevin up. I’m sick and tired of people looking away from bullies and from survivors crying out for our help. When will it end? When will we decide to form an army around the vulnerable, the hurt, the abused? When will we stop defending pedophiles and predators? When will we stop pledging our allegiance to people who hold positions of power? When will we START standing by survivors?

If you choose to look away, YOU are also a coward and are contributing to the problem (sorry - someone’s gotta say it).

Kevin is one of the strongest people I’ve ever met. You will not hear him falter when he speaks. You will hear the truth in his voice and in his words. The suffering he’s endured cannot be understated. Dan Wootton is a criminal and a predator. And Kevin stated it best when he tweeted:

Help us strike while the iron is hot. Don’t let another perpeTRAITOR get off the hook. Rally around Kevin, share his posts, and let Dan Wootton know that his choices come with consequences and that we aren’t looking away or forgetting about his victims.

You want a better world? This is how we do it. By standing as a united front and supporting those with the courage to speak out against sexual deviants and abusers preying on our most vulnerable populations.
