I wrote this on my Twitter today and thought I’d share because it’s really a PSA for everyone…
I’ve been doxxed by survivors, stalked by survivor’s stalkers, and literally ‘the whole 9’ - and I never, ever have retaliated by posting the survivor’s personal information online. In fact - I bet none of you have ever even known the ‘drama’ I’ve faced because I keep it to myself, don’t air out my dirty laundry online, and stay focused my mission.
With that being said: I don’t care what you think about a survivor - ANY survivor, it is our DUTY and a RESPONSIBILITY to protect them. They are risking so much (their life!) just to speak out and we put them in danger when we are irresponsible with the information they are trusting us with.
I am seeing doxxing of survivors happening in the survivor community by non-survivors and it makes my heart sink and break. This is dangerous, reckless and irresponsible behavior. You don’t have to like every survivor - but if you aren’t keeping them safe, you are no better than their perpetrators.
Period.
We can do better.
Love,
Emma Katherine
Yes Ma’am! Protection and respect for the survivors is paramount. So sorry to hear this. Thanks for speaking out.
Well said, important. Thank you!
